Sew For Broke: the 90 minute Shirt

The first trimester is drawing to a close*, and I can actually begin to entertain the notion of sewing again, even though I don’t currently have a table to put my machine on any more, and even though I’m still falling asleep at 9:30. STILL.
Look how cute this toddler T-shirt tutorial is — and it’s made from a men’s T-shirt! Pardon me while I die from awesome.
*I’m 12 weeks in and feeling much better. My attempt at Nablopomo was a miserable failure, though, and I like to blame Mister Embryo. Heh.

I’ve been saving bags of old clothes, and now I know why: to make this rag rug. No sewing, no crocheting, just over-under braiding.

Sew For Broke: Miniature Patchwork Pincushions

Just saw this on the purl bee — teeny weeny patchwork. I have a doll quilt I just finished a few weeks ago that is made of three-quarter-inch nine-patch squares, and this is way smaller than that. I love it. I still haven’t made a pincushion for myself, either.
But this makes me want to get started.

Came across this little idea on design*sponge. We have a stupid huge store of glass jars; making little covers for them would be easy, and then hanging them is such a good idea when horizontal space is at a premium.

Well, we’re back from the wedding weekend in Columbus. We had a wonderful, wonderful time. I am whipped! The house is a mess, the laundry touches the ceiling and there are Pop-Tart crumbs showing up in mysterious places.
While I recover this week and half-heartedly try to get the house in order, you can get started on your holiday crafting, thanks to the link below from my absolute favorite craft book publisher. Uh, you hoard vintage sheets like me, right? It’s kind of a thing I do.
Let’s see, how much do I love the lace trim and hem here … hmmm A VERY LOT MUCH OKAY. One of the brilliant bits of this pattern is that these are “no-hem” pants. SMART. Click below for link to post and PDF with detailed instructions including how to draft your own pattern for pants.
Also, this would be the perfect kind of project for Sew Mama Sew’s Pajama Party Sew-along! I want to make PJ pants for the whole family (YES MATCHING SHUT UP), and I have a queen-size flannel bedsheet that would take me a pretty far way down that path.
