Thoughts while watching the fourth season of The Wire

• Jimmy McNulty: I can’t figure out what makes him so attractive.
• Utz Jalapeno potato chips smell weirdly like Chinese food.
• Hey, I’ve been there!
• And there!
• But never there. Oooh, scary.
• I feel much safer, as a Baltimore resident, post-Wire than I did before.
• Second season had my favorite version of the theme song.
• I still get Herc and Carver mixed up.
• And I still miss Frank.
• What took me so long to get on the Wire train? And why is David Simon so good?

I’m right there. 3/4 through season 4 myself and HOOKED! Herc is a “mope”. Carver has grown. I’m just now seing the O’Mally/Dixon alliance forging on the show. Burrell is hopeless and Omar back! But Bunk is still the tops. Such good characters. N’Joy!

i’m on season 1 still. am also watching deadwood so it’s taking a while to get through them all.
at first i though mcnulty was NOT attractive AT ALL but now he’s getting cuter. i am not sure why either.

@christina: hey, 22 can be good! enjoy it!

@breather: the o’malley/dixon bit is good — simon does a great job capturing b’more politics. i also am really, really loving the increased presence of authentic bawlmer accents.

@minnie: how is deadwood? i will need something to move onto after we finish this!

i totally feel ya. i really liked season 4. also don’t know why it took so long to get into the show, perhaps it was the lack of cable. did not like mcnulty in that movie about spartans fighting (can’t remember the name.)

btw, r u busy tuesday? louie is ready for prime time.

Seriously…safer? The whole series has freaked me out about corrupt cops and dark alleys and Bubs with his shopping cart. But, McNulty, very appealing. I love Omar and the Barksdale boys, too.

    yes, safer!

The thing about the Wire is that it’s about not just Baltimore, but the Western, right? Also, drugs. I come into contact with neither. Neither do I truck with cops, prosecutors or criminals. Now, if they called it The Target and it was shot in my local Target, then I’d feel wary, because I practically live there.

Leaving me a comment, eh? Have I mentioned how gorgeous you look in that shirt/kilt/jumpsuit/riding ensemble?
