Another Built By Wendy book
I had a little money to spend at Barnes and Noble over the weekend, and I was so disappointed I couldn’t buy this:

because it’s on pre-order. It’s Wendy Mullins’s second book, Sew U Home Stretch: The Built by Wendy Guide to Sewing Knit Fabrics. Sewing knits is still very much a mystery to me, which is why I can’t contain myself that this book is coming out. At last, I’ll have answers. According to the publisher’s blurb, she has tips even for people without sergers, such as myself.
I have her first book, Sew U, and love it — and I especially love that her books come with full-size tissue patterns. So I have high hopes for this one, as well. I only have to wait until May.

That book looks great… my mom used to sew us knit “ensembles” when I was young and now that I think about it, it probably wasn’t that easy to keep the fabric from puckering.
You also just reminded me that I have some Amazon money to spend… Any favorite pattern books that you can recommend? Either cute clothes or cute home projects? This one looks kind of neat.
Books I love:
Lotta Jansdotter, as you mentioned, plus Wendy’s first book, Sew U, and Sew What Skirts; I also love Amy Butler’s In Stitches and Joelle Hoverson’s Last Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts.
All have extremely wonderful photography and great projects.
Oh man … I’ve tried knits, and I have a serger, and I still can’t get them quite right. I pre-ordered this toda. I can’t wait.
I just have a mental block on knits, I don’t know why. I’ve been sewing for over half my life, but just can’t get them to work.
Squeeeeee!!! Damn you, January, and your non-May-ness.
