(I just can’t leave that other, raw, depressing post at the top of the page.)
Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts
Quick tip: the Bird Ornaments featured in Joelle Hoverson’s Last Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts make great teethers for babies when sewn in a cheerful cotton and when the hanging loop is omitted. It’s just the right size for fat little hands and can be tossed in the wash when the drool gets to be too much.
I’ve made one for Mac already and it’s a good, squishy little toy to pack in the diaper bag or hand him during lunch.

I’ve seen this book about the internet for a while now and everyone has had such good things to say about. The bird teether sounds like a great idea! Book is going on my wish-list!
I got this book for Christmas and I’ve been drooling over the projects for the last few weeks. Have you made anything else from the book? I bought my fabric for the log cabin quilt, although I’m might try something similar to the bright red two-fabric quilt first, since it will be my first non-crib sized quilt.
Oh, Elizabeth, it’s great! Inspiration and tips and a really, really great section on color. Plus the wonderful patterns and projects.
Lindsey, I also tried the coasters from that book — racking my brain to see if I’ve tried anything else. I can’t believe I can’t remember.
