Say hey, say vay, say vacation

A mention in Mom’s Daily Dose has prompted me to get off my widening duff and post something on this here Internet weblog I have. See, I am in the middle of the first full week of vacation I have taken since my three months of maternity leave two years ago.

(Note to Canadians, with their full year of government-sanctioned leave: I am so, so jealous.)

Did I mention it was two years ago? And this is the first week of vacation I’ve taken. Lame.

But … vacation time is totally my BFF. So far this week, Iain and Owen and I have spent a few long lazy days at the in-laws’ in PA, napping and drinking hot cocoa and pushing the dog off our laps. We had an awesome Christmas there, and also drove up to visit Owen’s Great-Grandma Millie in the picturesque boonies of Corry, PA. Now we’re spending a few lazy days at my parents’ house, trying out our new Christmas presents and shooting way too many pictures.

I freaking love Christmas.

I also love having a little time away from my job. It’s a great job and a great company, but you know what? TWO YEARS. I don’t love them that much.

I’ve had 5 days off since last September (non-consecutive), when I only took off three to go on a cruise. Before that? It was January 2004 that I took a week off for another cruise. And *I* work for my family!! Something seem off there to you??
