We’re dirty!

A Sunday evening bulleted list.

  • My mouth is all better but for the stitches. Now, how much do you think I could get on the street for all that Lortab?
  • While waiting for my Dad at BWI last night, I saw a pair of elderly cowboys actually twirling their lassos over by the Southwest Airlines luggage carousel. It was fantastic. I’m gonna go ahead and guess they were on the flight from San Antonio and not the one from Cleveland.
  • Owen can suddenly do puzzles. When did that happen?
  • All weekend it was 75 and sunny. We only came in to eat and nap. Owen was pretty happy about that.
  • My new coffeemaker is sweet.
  • Daylight saving time did not fuck our shit up, as I expected it would.
  • I’ve been taking giant steps backward from the computer and it feels so good.
  • I buckled and bought a box of hair dye. I talked the talk and walked the walk, and I have embraced my greys, but you know what? I’m only 26. I feel like looking 26 again.
  • Also, I am growing my hair out. Kind of excited about that. Have had the same haircut for over a year, and my hormones seem back on track, so I think I can handle the long hair again. (Pregnancy did a number on my follicles — my hair went from straight to curly.) Also, not to get all false advertising on you, but Iain likes it better a little longer. And mornings are not as hellish as they used to be, so hair management is predicted to be easier. (God, justify much?)
  • Also, I painted my toenails. Jen, remember when you and Jeff came to visit and I bought that trashy red nail polish? It’s that color.
  • Mom and I went shopping before she got really sick, and I bought a pair of those long shorts, the knee-skimmers. Is that not the best trend ever in legwear! All the comfort of shorts, without having to shave above the knee. Perfect. Gonna wear ‘em to work, too, fuggit.
  • Owen is learning still more words, including the fabulous, multipurpose “No.” Toddlerhood is awesome.
  • Also, with 14 months of motherhood under my belt, I’m finally starting to really enjoy it. Every month that goes by I’m a little less panicky, and that’s a good feeling. Not that I don’t still have my days, but man alive, it’s getting a lot easier.

So! That about rounds it out.

And yeah, we’re moving, I’m not making that up. We won’t be leaving for a while, but it is in the “game plan,” as I like to say. Westward ho and all that. I want Owen and any future siblings of his to live much nearer our families. I think humans are made for that kind of thing.

  1. 14 months *is* magical, jess. No number two on the way, but I’m starting to realize it could be a possibility.

mama c-ta, there will always be Supafine! Even if I kill it, I could never let it be dead for long.
