Glurg

Spent nearly the entire day in bed yesterday, and slept about 12 hours last night. I feel marginally better.

Also, I took a vitamin today, which I hope helps, and which I sincerely hope doesn’t give me a penis or anything because it’s Iain’s, of the One-A-Day Men’s Health variety. Men’s vitamins won’t render me sterile or anything, right?

Phew, OK.

And … today is Haircut Day. The Vegan [I have no idea if she’s actually vegan or what, but that’s her nickname for these purposes, so there you have it] recommended a salon in Canton. And since I’ve been here in B-more for two years and have yet to find a stylist I like as much as the ubertalented one I had back home at the fancy-schmancy Aveda salon I worshipped, this will have to do.

I hate going to salons now, because the haircut lady invariably makes some comment as to the bigness of my hair and the bumpiness of my skull, and I’m not very good at making small talk, and having another person wash my hair used to be fun but now is too damn personal, thank you, especially when the hair-washer person is a 15-year-old boy who is gay and very much not interested in me or the conditioner he left in my hair because I am not a hot young man, such as the one who just walked in the door.

However, I am ready to forgive and forget and give the whole thing another go, because I realized that I have the EXACT SAME haircut I had in grades 5-8. Not cool. So in three hours I am going to go get lost in Canton and hope that New Stylist Lady will work miracles and not make fun of me, which is, admittedly, a bit much to ask for.

Oh, my favorite topic—hairstylists in Baltimore. Try Alisa at Tenpachi in Charles Village (just off 31st between Charles and St. Paul). Yes, it’s that $10 place, and yes, they don’t dry your hair for you, but I promise you she’s a master. For 3 months after I moved to New York I still went to her (this sounds crazy, but my husband was still living in Baltimore during those months so I went down a few times.)

If you don’t like her, well, you’ve only lost $10.

No worries, MB. Those vitamins won’t do anything for penis growth but if you want, I can forward about …. 3 billion emails that are currently in my trash that claim to help in that department. Just let me know. =P

thanks, ianqui! I will definitely try tenpachi out next time! Nothing better than a masterful $10 haircut, in my opinion. Unless it’s a drop-dead pair of $10 shoes.

Heh heh, Dan — I’ll take my chances without the miracle-drugs … but thanks all the same!! :-P
